Potato & Paneer
I have had a very busy weekend and the next 2 weeks are going to be just as busy, there is a family wedding, and amongst us indians, it is a really big pallava with so many functions and so many elders telling you what and how to do everything, so I am going to have to be calmettes for the next couple of days. Anyways here is my recipe for ” Meatless Monday”
Potato & Paneer
25ml cooking oil
100ml chopped onions
2-3 curry leaves
1-2 dry chillies
5ml ginger and garlic paste
5ml coriander powder
5ml cumin powder
2ml turmeric powder
7ml chilli powder
3medium potatoes (peeled and cubed)
200ml chopped paneer
75 ml water
5ml salt
100 ml grated tomatoes
45ml chopped fresh coriander
Method
- Heat oil in a heavy based pot, add the onions – allow to brown, add the curry leaves, dry chillies, ginger and garlic past
- Add all of the powder spices and salt
- Lower heat and stir well before adding the potatoes and about 75ml water and allow to cook for about 6minutes.
- Once the potatoes are a bit soft, add the grated tomatoes and allow to simmer for about 20 minutes—or till potatoes are soft, add the paneer and season with salt and allow to simmer for about 5-6minutes
- Remove from stove garnish with coriander and serve with rice or roti
Notes
Paneer can be bought at Checkers Hyperama or you could use Ricotta cheese instead

That sounds delicious…I have a recipe for paneer, which I am working up the courage to try making 🙂

Hi–do not worry it is really easy to make paneer the only thing is you need to work quickly and ensure you use fresh lemon juice and full cream milk.
