Peas

With everyone on some sort of diet or detox programme, a variation to any salad or vegetable is most welcome. This dish is so simple and versatile, it can be served chilled with some yogurt, warm as a side curry with roti, or as a side salad with your braai. The list of how you can serve this dish is endless.

Peas

 10ml oil

50ml grated onions

3-4 curry leaves

1 green chilli

5ml cumin & coriander seeds (toasted & slightly crushed)

5ml ginger powder

5ml cumin powder

5ml coriander powder

250ml peas

7ml salt

Chopped coriander

10ml sesame seeds

Method

  1.  Heat oil in a large pot, add the grated onion and allow to cook and become translucent, add the green chilli and curry leaves
  2. Add the ginger powder, crushed cumin and coriander seeds and fry for a few seconds before adding the cumin and coriander powder
  3. Lower heat and add the peas and cook till tender, and remove from heat season with salt and lemon juice
  4. Garnish with the chopped coriander and sesame seeds and chill before serving with some plain yogurt or serve warm as a warm salad

    Great repcie, Manjula-ji. Do you know the repcie for the cheeselings they sell in bombay? Little rectangle puffs that taste of cheese. If so, could you please do a video? Thanks Aruna
