
Peas
With everyone on some sort of diet or detox programme, a variation to any salad or vegetable is most welcome. This dish is so simple and versatile, it can be served chilled with some yogurt, warm as a side curry with roti, or as a side salad with your braai. The list of how you can serve this dish is endless.
Peas
10ml oil
50ml grated onions
3-4 curry leaves
1 green chilli
5ml cumin & coriander seeds (toasted & slightly crushed)
5ml ginger powder
5ml cumin powder
5ml coriander powder
250ml peas
7ml salt
Chopped coriander
10ml sesame seeds
Method
- Heat oil in a large pot, add the grated onion and allow to cook and become translucent, add the green chilli and curry leaves
- Add the ginger powder, crushed cumin and coriander seeds and fry for a few seconds before adding the cumin and coriander powder
- Lower heat and add the peas and cook till tender, and remove from heat season with salt and lemon juice
- Garnish with the chopped coriander and sesame seeds and chill before serving with some plain yogurt or serve warm as a warm salad
