Kiwi & Mint Body Scrub

I know I should be posting recipes for edible dishes, but I did get carried away with day 2’s challenge and I will be sharing a recipe for a body scrub–in my defense every ingredient of the the body scrub is edible!!!!

How often we forget that what goes onto our bodies is just as important as what we put into our bodies. We all know that the foods we eat have a major effect on the look and feel of our skin, luckily for us many of the skin enhancing foods are super duper tasty as well. Kiwis with their double the vitamin C content of an orange, are an amazingly tasty fruit that can be eaten or made into a juice or even pureed and whipped up into a great body scrub. Include one tasty vitamin C enriched kiwi to your diet to ward of colds and flu’s and add another vitamin C & E enriched kiwi to use as your beauty product. The vitamin C contained in kiwi fruit plays a major role in collagen synthesis and it helps to protect and rejuvenate damaged skin, and the vitamin E helps you achieve great skin by fighting against the formation of free radicals (your skins greatest enemy). Are you suffering from dark circles under the eyes or puffiness, or even a hangover—slice up a Zespri Kiwi and place the slices over your eyes. Wow, who knew this amazing furry, fuzzy fruit is an important dietary requirement as well as an integral part of a beauty regime

 Kiwi & Mint Scrub

2 Zespri kiwis (chopped)

100ml mint leaves

250ml buttermilk

75ml mealie meal (scrub component)

Method

  1. Place the kiwis, mint leaves and buttermilk into a bowl
  2. Using a stick blender, puree the above ingredients and then stir in the mealie meal and tumble into a jar or bowl and refrigerate before use
  3. Remove from the refrigerator and use before a shower or a soak
  4. This scrub leaves your body nourished and rejuvenated
